1970s movie posters designed in Czechoslovakia.
1970s were quite a tragedy for cultural enlightenment in Czechoslovakia, as communists were getting their power back. Occupation in 1968 resulted in process of so called Normalisation. Clearance was about to come and not only in poster designing. Sometime prohibiting of certain movie would make poster vanish. Czechoslovak New Wave Cinema was banned from the screening and promoting material was usually destroyed. Many great artists were forced to leave. As a response to that several artists decided to also leave poster designing. Eva Galová-Vodrážková, Jiří Balcar, Naděžda Bláhová, Zdeněk Kaplan and many others, won’t be designing no more. Artists as Antonín Dimitrtov, Jan Brychta, Karel Machálek or Miloš Reindl emigrated. Lot of new names appeared within those whom somehow remained.
